EVANSTON — “Our county fair is the best county fair. Don’t miss it. Don’t even be late.”
As readers will know, I, as the reporter, took a little leeway with the above quote from a movie that was made some time ago. But, in actuality, Uinta County has a lot to be proud of when the county fair kicks off to spotlight projects and activities of county residents.
This year’s theme “County 19 in 2019” seems appropriate for the area. Residents have some time to brag about their projects and the county in which they live.
This year the fair kicked off on July 25 and will run through Saturday, Aug 3. The fair provides a cornucopia of activities and events for visitors and competitors. People throughout the county walk through the gates to take get a glimpse of the exhibits and to cheer on their favorite exhibitors when they show their projects.
The show rings and exhibit halls holds a plethora of entries. Free activities during the day keep the children, big and small (oh year, moms and dads and more are kids at heart when it comes to fair time), entertained through the day. As for some of the free events, the Bubble Tower and Laser Maze beckoned and enticed children to ‘come hither and test your skills,’ starting Monday and winding throughout the events of the rest of the days of the fair. The Junior rodeo on Monday this week was slated as a free family event.
First on the docket was the 4-H, FFA and open class horse shows and the fashion revue interview judging were held on Thursday, Friday and Saturday of last week.
Tuesday and Wednesday were busy days
Tomorrow proves to be a winding down of the fair as exhibitors prep to take their projects home.
