MOUNTAIN VIEW Coming off of spring break the MVHS track team will compete at a meet in Ted Schroeder Meet of Hope at Rock Springs tomorrow.
Next week, Mountain View will compete in Green River on Friday and the Pocket Change at Morgan, Utah, Saturday.
The Ted Schroeder usually plays to a massive amount of athletes and a multitude of schools. Each team is allow an unlimited number of entries in the meet. In addition, each athlete can sign up for four events. Odds are some of the athletes might not be on hand as Mountain View plays to the Junior Prom tomorrow at 8 p.m.
At the meet in Orem, Utah on March 31, MVHS’ best vaulter – Harlan Benedict - on the guys team broke the school record. Benedict soared to height of 14’1” – eclipsing the old record of 14 feet by one inch.
Another plus for the MVHS Buffalos, a third member of the vaulting team prequalified for state. Dustin Smith qualified at the Lyman Invitational just prior to the district’s spring break with a vault of 12’1”. Smith joints the ranks of the other two MVHS vaulters – Benedict and Brandon Vitt – hurdler Briggin Bluemel and jumper Mason Ozuna, who are all pre-qualified for state.
