LYMAN — Kathryn (Kathy) Adams, an 18-year veteran of the Lyman Police Department, was recently appointed chief of the department.
Adams was sworn in on March 30, and said Tuesday, she was “excited about going forward and helping out the town.”
Adams said she had worked for the LPD for “a little over 18 years as a patrol officer.” Prior to working for the department, Adams said she worked for 2½ years as a detention officer for the Uinta County Sheriff’s Office. Then in 1999, Adams said, she made the move to the Lyman Police Department.
A native of California, Adams said, her family’s move to Wyoming was prompted by her husband’s job with the Wyoming Highway Patrol. The Adams family moved to Lyman in 1999. The Adams have four kids and eight grandkids.
When signing on as a patrol officer, Adams attended the Wyoming Law Enforcement Academy and obtained her POST certification, a requirement for law enforcement officers in Wyoming.
The Lyman Police Department provides 24-hour coverage for the community. This includes some on-call time for officers as the department has been short of officers. But, Adams said, any call that comes in for the Town of Lyman, no matter what the time, a Lyman officer will respond.
