EVANSTON — Ali Mulhall, 13-year old Wyoming native, is the 2018 Wyoming State Amateur Women’s Golf Champion.
Her sister Molli, 9, was the youngest golfer to ever play in the tournament.
Last weekend, Ali and her sister Molly competed in Wyoming’s biggest golf tournament, the Wyoming State Amateur Championship in Evanston. They competed against adults.
“It is an honor to win the Wyoming State Amateur, my name will get to be on a trophy with a lot of great champions,” Ali Mulhall said following the weekend.
The 2018 Wyoming State Amateur Championship included three 18-hole rounds, one round each to be played on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Tee times began at 8 a.m. each day. Mulhall took the championship by earning the lowest gross score after the 54 holes of stroke play. Molly finished 5th in the second flight. Their scores were Ali (69,73,77) and Molli (100,94,93).
Ali Mulhall has ties to the Valley as she is the granddaughter of Brad and Jan Roll, Lyman, and Ken and Deann Near, Fort Bridger; and Pat and Susan Mulhall, who now live in Mesquite, Nev., and are originally from Evanston.
