FORT BRIDGER — In commemoration of Memorial Day, members of American Legion Post 36 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7798 will be placing flags at the graves of veterans in the Valley Cemeteries.
This will include Fort Bridger, Lonetree, Lyman, Milburne, McKinnon, Piedmont and Robertson. The flags will be place on Saturday, May 25.
Each year the two veteran organizations place over 300 flags in the local cemeteries for Memorial Day. With so many graves to be honored and the possibility some of the veterans’ graves have gone unrecognized in the past, both organizations are asking that anyone aware of a grave that has not been recognized to contact Ton Dean, 307-747-4054; Bod Odden, 786-4294; or Owen Peterson, 307-780-6378.
If anyone wishes to help place flags, please meet at the American Legion Hall in Fort Bridger at 8 a.m. on Saturday, May 25.
On Memorial Day, at 8 a.m., members of the VFW Post and American Legion Post will raise the flag at the Fort Bridger State Historic Site. In addition, they will also raise flags at the Fort Bridger, Milburne and Lyman Cemeteries. The flag raising will include a 21-gun salute and taps.
On Memorial Day at 3 p.m. local time, please pause for a moment to remember Americans who died in the nation’s wars.
