Another 13 Wyoming deaths tied to COVID

CHEYENNE — The deaths of another 13 Wyoming residents have been tied to coronavirus, according to the Wyoming Department of Health.

The department on Tuesday said the deaths, which occurred in November, December and January, brought to 1,601 the number of Wyoming residents whose deaths have been linked to the illness since it was first detected in Wyoming in March 2020.

Among the fatalities were three Laramie County residents, two women and one man, and three Natrona County men.

Other victims included a Campbell County man, two Fremont County women, a Hot Springs County woman, a Park County woman and a Sweetwater County man and woman.

In addition on Wednesday WDH said the state received 1,041 reports of new laboratory-confirmed cases on Wednesday, as well as reports of 551 new probable cases. At the same time, the number of reported recoveries among those with confirmed or probable cases increased by 1,110, leaving the state with 7,123 active cases.

Uinta was reported to have 324 active cases, while Laramie County still had the highest number at 1,432. Natrona County was next with 1,120 followed by Teton County with 734. Sweetwater had 423, and Lincoln had 214. Niobrara had 12, which was the least on Wednesday.

The new confirmed and probable cases brought to 132,145 the number of people diagnosed with coronavirus since it was first detected in the state. Of those, 123,421 have recovered.

The number of patients being treated for coronavirus in Wyoming hospitals increased by nine Wednesday to total 108, with the largest number at Cheyenne Regional Medical Center, with 27. Casper’s Wyoming Medical Center was treating 26
