As the arena dust settled, three named All Around winners at Pioneer Rodeo

Posted

LYMAN — The 2022 Pioneer Days Rodeos held at the Lyman Rodeo Grounds last week played host to multiple cowboys and cowgirls, adult and youth, as the competitors saddled up and hit the arena bent on claiming the prize money in their events.

There was a hint from the skies of rain, but the rodeos, part of the Bridger Valley Pioneer Days Celebration, played under calm skies and dry weather serving as a perfect backdrop for the rodeo arena. The theme for this year’s rodeos was “The Ways of a Stockman” and set the scene for these ranch rodeos. The rodeos are designed to focus on actual things ranchers utilize to run their ranches – team sorting, penning, saddle bronc riding and more. This was the 22nd year since the rodeos had been reorganized and organized by the Rodeo Committee.

A junior rodeo was held earlier in the week for the young cowboys and cowgirls to show their stuff. Four competition levels at the junior rodeo ranged from peewee, seven and under, to seniors, 15-18 years.

In addition, a concert by singer-songwriter Breen Hill was again on tap. The concert was sponsored by Union Wireless, making the concert free for Valley residents and others who attended.

The preliminary rodeo last Friday night was a good start to the Saturday night finals. Saturday night, the top six teams frm each event were on hand to battle for first place.
