MOUNTAIN VIEW — Baylee Tims, a 2018 Mountain View graduate, has been selected to play on the South’s basketball team at the Wyoming Coaches Foundation’s All Star games in Casper July 21.
Two Evanston athletes were also selected to don the uniform of the South Team in the game. They are Hailey Barker and Taylor Groll.
Tims is the only player from Bridger Valley tapped for the All Star games. Tims was under the direction of Jessica Moretti, the head coach for the Mountain View Lady Buffs. According to Moretti Wednesday morning, Tims was a leader for the Lady Buffs, both on and off the court.
The players for the teams were selected by a committee of high school coaches who selected the top 10 players from the northern half of the state and the top 10 players from the southern half of the state who will be squaring off against one another in this basketball games.
“Baylee had a great senior year,” Moretti said. “She averaged 9.4 points a game in which her field goal percentage was 67 percent. She finished the season with the second highest percentage in the state in 3A girls basketball.
“Baylee was also #7 in the 3A girls for the state with 7.7 rebounds per game and then #5 in 3A girls for the state with 1.3 blocks per game. Baylee finished the season with 67 percent from the free throw line.
“Not only did Baylee led her team in these areas, but she has always been a great leader for her teammates both on and off the court,” Moretti added. “She is an outstanding role model to all. We wish her the best of luck at the All-star game next week.”
The games will be played in conjunction with the Wyoming Coaches Association annual Coaching Clinic, Hall of Fame Banquet and All Star Week. The week’s events include volleyball, and girls and boys basketball. Practices for the event begin on Wednesday, July 18, and continues through Saturday, July 21.
Tims earned both 3A All Conference and All State in basketball during the latest basketball season.
