POWELL — LHS graduate McKinley Bradshaw was named a finalist as a Milward Simpson Outstanding High School Athlete Award, according to a release June 1.
Bradshaw was one of five girls who earned this distinction for the female athlete award. The others include Rylee Hladky, Campbell County; Paige Powell, Cody; Kammie Ragsdale, Pine Bluffs; and Haedyn Rhoades, Douglas.
Bradshaw will don the brown and gold of the Wyoming Cowgirls next year as she has signed on to play for the University of Wyoming. In an earlier story in the Pioneer when Bradshaw was named the Wyoming Girls Basketball Gatorade Player of the Year, LHS head basketball coach James Hansen said this, “McKinley… is the best player in All-Classes for the state of Wyoming. She is top 5 in almost every
statistical category. What sets McKinley apart for me, is that she gives so
much effort during a game. When you are super-skilled and super-athletic,
then go-hard-or-harder than everyone else, that is the formula for huge
success in basketball.”
In addition, Bradshaw also earned accolades as a volleyball player and track athlete for LHS.
The male finalists for the Milward Simpson Award include Tucker Bopp, Glenrock; Parker Christensen, Sheridan; Dontae Garza, Burlington; Bentley Johnson, Cokeville; and Asefa Wetzel, Star Valley.
The winner for each gender will be announced at the Luncheon that will be held in Cody on June 15.
