Buffalos claimed bragging right over Eagles

Posted

MOUNTAIN VIEW — The Mountain View Buffalos claimed the bragging rights and the trophy of the Bridger Valley Bowl last Friday in Mountain View.

The Buffalos shut out the Lyman Eagles in a cool, crisp day under blue skies, 45-0.

The odds were the Buffalos would romp over the Eagles, but the game also brings forth extra excitement as the two Valley teams go head-to-head.

Both head coaches praised their team’s efforts and said improvements can and will be made in practice. Team members are working hard and focusing on improvements each week.

“Mountain View pretty much dominated us in all phases of the game,” Lyman Eagle head coach Dale Anderson said Monday afternoon. “They are a very good team, and they certainly showed that on Friday. As we move forward, we have some things we need to work on because we have two very big games coming up the next two weeks. We’ll learn from last week and find ways to get better.”

Mountain View claims the best 2A conference record in the state, 4-0; and tops over second place Big Piney in the 2A west conference as Piney has suffered a conference loss, 4-1, to Mountain View. Both teams have an overall record of 5-1. Mountain View’s only lost this year was their opening game against 1A West Cokeville Panthers.

“We will be the conference champions if we beat Kemmerer on Friday,” Walk said. “We will not be overlooking them...this is a big game for us with huge implications for the rest of the season. We are going in with this as a ‘must win’ game and are concentrating on getting better this week than we were last week. We don't get caught up on, who we are playing. Instead, our focus is on taking care of ourselves and playing Mountain View Football.

“We are going in with no conference losses and have already beat Big Piney. A win this Friday will put us first in the West Conference and a #1 seed in the playoffs”
