MOUNTAIN VIEW — Derrill Carpenter was recognized at the UCSD4 board meeting Tuesday, Dec.12, for his 50 years of service to the district.
The award was presented to Carpenter by Superintendent Jeff Newton and recognized Carpenter’s 50 years of driving the school bus for the students. Carpenter officially hung up the keys last year. He has safely been delivering children to and from school. The children whom he drives all love him and he has been very appreciated throughout the district.
Carpenter was awarded a plaque commemorating his service as well as a letter from the Mountain View school board and the Wyoming School Board Association showing their appreciation for all he has done.
“Always doing what was best for the students in the district,” the letter read, “…thanks to his enthusiasm for life and the people with whom he associates.”
Carpenter’s son, Kelly Carpenter, who is a member of the school board, presented the plaque to his father.
