EVANSTON — The Uinta County Commission took care of on-going county business and passed a resolution for American Legion Post 36 at their regular meeting on Jan. 7.
The commission unanimously approved the resolution designating Jan. 25, 2020, as
“American Legion Fort Bridger Post 36 Centennial Day.” The request by Pete Roitz, Legion Post 36 Commander was in conjunction with the American Legion celebrating its 100th year this year. American Legion Post 36 was chartered on Jan. 31, 1920. Post 36 is hosting a celebration on Jan. 25 with daytime activities, a program and an evening dance.
The commission named county residents for board terms. The following board appointments were made by unanimous vote:
Fair Board – Joel Giorgis, 5 year term;
Museum Board – Kerri Wright and Barbara McFadden, 3 year terms;
Library Board – Tisa Cheney and JoAnne Keeffer, 3 year terms;
Veterans Board –William Orvosh and Dennis Keeffer,3 year terms;
Council of Uinta Healthcare Trust Board – Gary Larsen, 3 year term;
Ev-Uinta Airport Joint Powers Board – Eric South, 3 year term;
Human Service Tripartite Board – Trudy Lym, 3 year term;
Predatory Animal Control – Randall Chandler and Shaun Harris, 3 year term.
In other action, the commission approved the purchase of a Geo Validation Upgrade from Spillman Technologies, Inc. for $10,920.00 for an upgrade on the E911 services as requested by Amanda Hutchinson, approved a prescription plan change to benefit employees requiring certain medications, approved High Country Behavioral Health as the county’s mental health provided.
A contract for providing some maintenance and service use was approved with Ready Rocks.
A major point of discussion was the on-going problem with asbestos in some county operated offices and the on-going work at the Bridger Valley Landfill.
