MOUNTAIN VIEW — Paul “Spike” Arnell, Mountain View chief of police, took off his badge and turned off his radio after completing nearly 35 years of law enforcement.
He officially celebrated his resignation at the Mountain View council meeting on Aug. 4. Arnell’s retirement completed a full circle as his initial work in law enforcement was for the Town of Mountain View when he was hired as a police officer. He held this position from 1982-1985.
He then worked under the Uinta County Sheriff’s Office as a deputy from 1985-1996. At that time, Arnell took six months off before returning to the Uinta County Sheriff’s Office in 1997, through part of 2013.
Arnell returned to working for the Town of Mountain View at that time and was appointed chief of police. He has served as Mountain View’s chief since his appointment in 2013.
