EVANSTON — Christopher Agustus Stanley (known as Gus) passed away in his home surrounded by family on Oct. 12.
Gus was born Sept. 20, 1937, in Murray, Utah, to Christopher Mayo Stanley and Eva Rhoads.

Our dad married the love of his life, Dona Gae Thackeray on Feb. 8, 1956, in Salt Lake City, Utah; and their love story began. They have five children: Tony Stanley, Toby (Sharon) Stanley, Tamy (Zane) Roitz, Traci (Stan) Ingle and Tresa (Randy) Horrocks.

Gus retired from Ted Miller Company in Salt Lake City, Utah; in April 2000 due to a work accident which left him paralyzed. Gus did construction work and love to build.

No matter the circumstance, Gus faced it head on with the love of his life of 63 years. They made it through the ups-and-downs of life with their undying love for each other. Theirs is our favorite love story of all time.
Gus is survived by his wife. Dona; five children and their spouses, 20 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, with a great-great-grandbaby on the way, as well as siblings. He was preceded in death by his parents and several siblings.
We cannot express enough the love we had for this amazing man. Helping anyone in need and having a heart of gold. He loved his family very much. He was our hero.
A big heartfelt thank you to Cowboy Cares, especially Lynn, for the amazing care that was given to Gus and his family. Thank you.

His wishes were to be cremated and a private service with close family members.
