SPECIAL TO THE PIONEER
LYMAN — Bridger Valley's Sefton Douglass traveled to Cedar Falls, Iowa, April 2-3, to compete at the USA Folkstyle Nationals wrestling tournament where he brought home All-American honors.
Douglas, competing against some of the best athletes in the country, took seventh place.
After pinning his way to the quarterfinals, Douglass suffered a heartbreaking loss to the eventual champ from California. Douglass was put into the blood rounds, where he still needed to win one match to secure a spot on the podium. He defeated the Wisconsin state finalist with a 6-3 decision to confirm All-American status.
Douglass continued his consolation journey until he lost in the round of 4 putting him in the 7th and 8th place bout. Douglass finished his national tournament on a win with a 10-7 decision making him an 18 & under 120 pound All-American.
