SAN DIEGO, Calif. — Sefton Douglass of Lyman recently returned home from a three day wrestling tournament with two championship banners last weekend in San Diego, Calif.
The tournament was held at the USS Midway Museum. The lucky wrestlers who battled all the way to the championship match in their respective brackets, were given the opportunity to wrestle the final match on the flight deck of this massive, former Navy aircraft carrier.
In Douglass freestyle and folkstyle brackets, there were wrestlers from seven different states from as far as Pennsylvania and Ohio, with five that were state champions. He would go on into his freestyle bracket to not even having a point scored on him and pinning his opponent in the first place match.
Later that evening, Douglass won his folkstyle bracket, beating D.J. Gillett (an Oregon state champion) four to one.
