CASPER — The Lyman Eagles, though small in number have been mighty in the water and stroked to second place at the state swim meet.
The team, with only seven boys swimming, captured the second place at the state meet last weekend in Laramie. The swimmers cruised through the season with the main thought of improving on their times in their respective events. They were basically all pre-qualified for the state meet at the beginning of the season. Going into this year’s state meet, the Eagles had five individuals who qualified in all eight events. The Eagles also took second at state last year.
This year’s 3A swimming and diving championship was again taken by the Lander Tigers as they racked up 325 points. Lander dominated eight of the 11 races and also broke some state records. This is the 22nd year in a row for the Tigers to claim the championship.
Lyman Eagle Cooper Haycock was named an All State swimmer by the Wyoming Coaches’ Association.
