Football fever in the Valley with two 2A West conference play-off games

Posted

BRIDGER VALLEY — Both Valley high schools are hosting a playoff game today on their respective fields.

Mountain View has hosted a game yearly for some time, but the Lyman Eagles are new to the playoffs this year after going through several years of rebuilding due to loss of power players.

This weekend marks the first playoffs as the teams strive for the right to play at UW in the 2A state championship game. A second round of play-offs will be held next week prior to the state championship games in Laramie Nov. 15-16.

WyoPreps reported its latest Coaches and Media Poll Wednesday saying, “It continues to be Mountain View and Buffalo in a tight race for No. 1 and No. 2. Three points separate the Buffalos and Bison. Mountain View holds the top spot, while Buffalo is second. Burns pushes up to No. 3 in the final poll after their victory over Thermopolis. That puts the Bobcats in fourth in the last rankings of 2019. The Lyman Eagles jump back into the top five for the first time since Week 3. They are at No. 5.”

Both Lyman and Mountain View aced their games last week to nail down and host a play-off game today. The Mountain View Buffalos take on Wheatland at 1 p.m., and the Lyman Eagles play Thermopolis at 2 p.m. Wheatland enters the fray as the #4 East team and Thermopolis as the #3 East team.

The other two playoff games pitch #2E Burns against #3 Big Piney tonight and #1E Buffalo against #4W Lovell this evening.
