LYMAN— I-80 was closed in both directions between mileposts 46 and 47 in Wyoming last week on Thursday for a crash involving a semi hauling cattle.
According to Uinta County Fire and Ambulance, the semi left the roadway and crashed on its side before catching on fire.
The driver was taken to Evanston Regional Hospital. According to WHP Lt. Matt Arnell Wednesday afternoon, the driver was “treated and released with a suspected concussion.”
Officials said the truck was hauling an estimated 45 cows, 13 of which died at the scene. Crews worked to contain the cows and extricate those still inside the trailer.
Arnell said with a chuckle, “We want to thank all the local cowboys who showed up to help get the cows off the road. They were a great help.”
