BRIDGER VALLEY — And they are off and running as the new basketball season starts with play this weekend with the Bridger Valley Tournament.
Both Lyman High School and Mountain View Highs School will host games today and tomorrow in the Valley shoot-out which will include both teams. Teams from Big Piney, Farson-Eden, Wind River, Cokeville, Kemmerer and Green River will be on the hardwood. For most teams, there are only two weekends of play before the winter break.
Lyman and Mountain View will face each other following the break at Lyman on Jan. 6.
The Bridger Valley tournament on this opening weekend is one of several sites: Casper, Gillette, Cody, Wright, Burns, Upton, Hanna or Encampment.
All teams have a new slate in which to notch their wins.
As for rankings for the guys, Riverton is considered the #1 ranked team in 3A as they are the defending champions of the conference, according to the coaches and media pre-season poll conducted by WyoPreps. The Wolverines will kick off their season in competition at Casper and will be up against some 4A teams.
