It’s reckoning time in football, MV hosts for first playoff game

Posted

MOUNTAIN VIEW — The Mountain View Buffs locked up the #1 seed in the 2A west conference and earned the right to host #4 East Thermopolis.

Mountain View earned the #1 seed over Big Piney due to a head-to-head win. The game with Thermopolis today goes down on the Buff turf at 2 p.m. where the Buffalos are hungry for the win.

If they take the win, they will go up against the winner of the Greybull/Wheatland game on Nov. 3. If they go up against Greybull, the Buffalos will be looking for revenge after taking a drubbing last week, 41-15.

In Mountain View’s favor during these playoffs, the Buffalos will have home field advantage, and they will want to show the home-town crowd, they have what it takes to win at football. A second win would throw the Buffalos into the championship game on Nov. 10, in Laramie.

But, first steps first. The Buffalos need to take the win today against the Thermopolis Bobcats.

Big Piney is #2 in the 2A-W conference and they take on #3 E Newcastle today. If Big Piney would win this game on their home turf, the Piney Punchers would play the winner of the Lovell/Glenrock game next week.

As for the Lyman Eagles, they have also worked on improvement throughout the season. They weren’t fortunate to make the playoffs, as they like Mountain View, suffered a loss last week against Big Piney. The Punchers squeaked by the Eagles, 21-20, last Friday. The Eagles held a six-point lead with a minute to play. Fate frowned, and the Eagles were dragged down by one. If the Eagles would have won the game, they would have earned the right to play in the playoffs.
