FORT BRIDGER — Jerry Lyman Yates, 79, died in Bridger Valley Monday, Sept. 4. He was born Nov. 28, 1937, to James Yates and Velma Luce in Park City, Utah.
Jerry married the love of his life, Flora Lake, on July 25, 1964. They had two children together: Patrick T. Yates and Jerrie Lynn Davis.
Jerry served his country honorably in the Korean Conflict as a radio communications officer in the United States Army. He loved his family and his dogs. Some of his hobbies included camping and riding horses, and he was a fanatic about rock hunting.
Jerry is survived by his two children: Jerrie Lynn (Todd) Davis and Patrick T Yates; his grandchildren: Steven Yates, Timmy Yates, Misty Jorgensen, Levi Anderson and Kendra Yates. He is also survived by great-grandchildren: Braxlynn Jorgensen, Mackayla Arthur and Sheridan Basset; and many other grandchildren and step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Flora Yates; parents, James and Velma; brother, James Yates; sister, Cheryl Yates; and a grandbaby, Jesse Jorgensen.
A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 9, at the American Legion Hall Post #36 in Fort Bridger.
