LYMAN — The LHS Lady Eagles aced two more trips to the court when they faced the Lady Panthers at Cokeville and four teams at the conference duals last week in Lander.
According to the latest WyoPrep poll released yesterday, the Lady Eagles are still #1 in the 3A conference. Rawlins follows in the #2 position.
The Lady Eagles took the win against Cokeville in four on Oct. 4. The easiest set was the first one, and the Lady Eagles scored a 16-point margin, 25-9. The Lady Panthers crouched down and put up a bigger fight in the next two sets, but couldn’t out-maneuver the Lady Eagles, 25-18, 20-25. The last set was an easier win for the Lady Eagles over the Lady Panthers with a 14-point edge, 25-11.
“We came out very strong in this match and by the third game, our intensity and urgency faded a bit. We were able to get back on the right track in game 4 and finish the match,” LHS head coach Brecia Hansen said. “Cokeville is a very good team, but we passed less effectively than I would have liked, and we let too many balls drop on our court defensively. On the other hand, we blocked much better tonight and that has been a focus for us.”
The Lady Eagles also proved they are a power at the net at the Conference Duals in Lander last Friday and Saturday, Oct. 5-6. They faced four teams, played 12 sets, and won each one. Their scores and wins at the duals included wins in three sets against Lander, 25-12, 25-15, 25-10; Worland, 25-11, 25-17, 25-21; Powell, 25-22, 25-11, 25-18; and Lovell, 25-4, 25-11, 25-8.
