FORT BRIDGER — Fort Bridger resident Lawrence Bugas was awarded a Melvin Jones Fellowship by Mountain View Lions Club members in honor of his decades of service to the community on June 14.
Bugas has been a member of the Mountain View Lions Club for 63 of the 66 years it has existed, and at one point had 55 years of perfect attendance. Bugas is also the oldest Lion in Wyoming as well as the 10th longest serving Lion in the state.
Along with the plaque awarded to Bugas from the international foundation and presented by fellow Lions Club members, Bugas’ name will also be displayed at the Lions International Headquarters in Chicago, Ill.
A Melvin Jones Fellowship Award is one of the highest honors that can be bestowed upon a Lion,” said Lions Club member, J.D. Flitner.
