LYMAN — The Lyman High School golf team is again on the green and stroking to the last hole.
They played at the Riverton Invitational last week, Aug. 17-18, against teams from 10 schools. The schools included host team Riverton, Lander, Sheridan, Jackson, Rock Springs, Evanston, Cody, Star Valley, Pinedale and Kemmerer.
The team will play at Star Valley today. In two weeks, Sept. 8-9, they will compete at the regional golf tournament in Cody. State golf is slated for Sept. 15-16, in Douglas. Although the team puts up a team score, individual accomplishment is the name of the game as team members attempt to improve on their strokes.
“They (the team) are all working hard to improve on parts of the game that is hard to practice in the field behind the school, but we are seeing some improvement.: said Don Toomer, head coach. “We will see how things go in Star Valley this weekend.”
At the two-day tournament in Riverton, The Lyman Eagles turned in a 413 and a 406 for a team score of 819.
This year’s team includes Andrew Houskeeper, Nathan Kock, Ryan Neilson, Ben Rassmussen and Garrett Rickets.
Houskeeper’s two-day score was 184 with a 95 on Thursday and an 89 on Friday. Kock was close behind with a 192.
