MOUNTAIN VIEW — The 3A west regional volleyball tournament in Mountain View last week turned up few surprises and rubber-stamped the on-going thoughts of how the event would turn out.
The Lyman Lady Eagles took first place again not suffering any losses on the way to first. They had a hard fought game against the MVHS Lady Buffs in the championship game going into five sets Saturday. Lady Eagles won the first set. Lady Buffs powered out and won the second and fourth sets. The Lady Eagles dug in and pulled out the win by winning the third and fifth sets.
It championship time at the state tournament in Casper this week, and both teams are expected to make a presence against the east conference teams. The Lady Eagles, #1W, took on the #4E Torrington team yesterday at 4:30 p.m. The Lady Buffs entered the court at 7:30 p.m. against the #3 Buffalo team. Both games were played after this week’s press time.
Basically, both teams are expected to move forward and be in the semi finals today.
At the regional tournament last week in Mountain View, the Lady Eagles proved they didn’t want to suffer a loss as they rolled over both Lovell and Pinedale in three on Friday with the Pinedale win qualifying the Lady Eagles for the state tournament. On Saturday, the Lady Eagles had a tougher opponent, but they still took the win in five sets from the Lady Buffs of Mountain View to claim first place.
As for the Lady Buffs, on their march to the championship game, they proved they were a team to be reckoned with as they beat Lander in three and Powell in four.
