LYMAN — The LHS graduating class has completed many milestones as students in the Lyman district from the time they entered as fresh-eyed kindergartners to last Friday night when they received their diplomas.
Last Friday night was their night and they were the stars of the event as the crowd waited. These students who had achieved throughout their school years were now ready to say good-bye to their lives as high school students and move on to a new step, a new beginning.
The auditorium sounded with a dull roar and laughter as the crowd entered, picked out their seats and waited. The LHS band filtered in and took their seats in front of the stage signaling graduation would soon begin. As the band sounded the first strains of Pomp and Circumstances, the crowd quieted, stood and waited for the young men and women who would step out on a new journey as the evening came to an end.
Class officers took center stage at the start of the ceremony. Ben Niederer, class president, provided the welcome and the invocation, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance led by vice president Cayden Giles.
Salutatorian Azylnn Beck equated graduation to the students heading “off on a great adventure…and off to great places.”
Valedictorian Stone Olguin said, “The time has gone so fast,” in reference to the students now facing graduation.
