IDAHO FALLS, Idaho — Melani Anne Smith, 49, of Idaho Falls, died June 15, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Melani was born Dec.14, 1967, in Longview, Texas, to Allen Lee Jensen and Gwynda Anne Lindsey Jensen. She grew up in Lyman, where she graduated from Lyman High School as valedictorian of her class. She also attended Ricks College, now BYU-Idaho, and earned her bachelor degree in speech and language pathology from BYU-Provo.

On Aug. 5, 1988, she married Randy G Smith in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. They were blessed with four children: Lindsey, Jacqueline, Mitchell and Brooklyn. Melani and Randy made their home in Idaho Falls, Idaho, where she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker.

An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Melani served in many callings. She especially loved working with the primary children and the young women. She was brave, she believed in hard work and she never shied away from a challenge. She constantly served her friends and neighbors out of genuine goodness and love. Melani's fun-loving personality made everything more beautiful, and she truly treasured the time she spent with her family in the outdoors. Her favorite hobbies included gardening, running, camping, hiking, snowskiing and waterskiing. She always said life was better at the lake.

Melani is survived by her loving husband of 29 years, Randy Smith of Idaho Falls, Idaho; daughter, Lindsey (Sam) Pulliam of Idaho Falls, Idaho; grandsons, Roman and Silas Pulliam; daughter, Jacqueline Smith of Provo, Utah; son, Mitchell Smith of Idaho Falls, Idaho; daughter, Brooklyn Smith of Idaho Falls, Idaho; brother, Shane (Denise) Jensen of Santa Clara, Utah; brother, Jon Jensen of New York, N.Y.; and in-laws, Garry and Sharon Smith of Rexburg, Idaho.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Benjamin Jensen; and her sister-in-law, Hollie Jensen.
