MOUNTAIN VIEW — Kindergarten and first grade students at Mountain View Elementary learned fire safety basics in a presentation by local firefighters on Oct. 18.
“Local firefighters met with the students and taught them different ways to keep themselves and their families safe in the event of a fire emergency,” according to Bill Erickson, MVE principal. “Firefighters demonstrated ways to stay safe such as getting low to stay below the smoke, Stop Drop and Roll, and to have an agreed upon meeting place for their family. Students were able to practice each of these skills.”
In addition, Erickson said, the students were show the equipment firefighters wear when fighting a fire. In addition, firefights explained what the students should do when their house is being searched during the fire.
