MVHS cheer squad brought home two championship titles

They got spirit, yes they do!

CASPER — The Mountain View High School 2017-2018 cheer squad completed another successful season, bringing home two titles from the state cheer competition, according to Bonnie Rudy.

MVHS competed against other cheer teams from across Wyoming in the 3A classification last week in Casper.

Cheerleaders and dance teams support the team and entertain the crowd through the fall and winter seasons...now it was their turn to compete and prove they are the best. And Mountain View did just that.

“When the competition was over, the Mountain View High School cheer team had accomplished something that had never been done in the history of the program, capturing state titles for both the all-girl stunt and non-stunt cheer categories in the same year,” Rudy said. “This was the program’s first stunt title since 2001 and the programs seventh non-stunt title including defending last year’s title.”

Mountain View took first in the non-stunt cheer with a score of 92.333, edging out a far second from Douglas, who scored 81.333. Lyman took fifth in this event with a score of 70.667.

The team took first with a score of 82.667, outpacing Star Valley, which took second with a score of 73.750.

In addition to brining home two state titles five young ladies – Ashlee Rudy, Haylee Rudy, Behlee Aimone, Jaden Downey and Tynnille Hansen – were named to the 2018 All-State Cheer Team at the event.
