MOUNTIAN VIEW — The Mountain View Lady Buffs and the Lyman Lady Eagles, the two titans of girls varsity basketball, battled for the championship at the Bridger Valley Tournament on Dec.  8, with the Lady Buffs taking the championship, 47-36.

The Invite was hosted by both Lyman High School and Mountain View High School and proved to be a winning tribute of the talent of the Valley’s girls basketball athletes. The championship game was played in the Buffalo Dome.

Both teams cruised through their competition and met on the hardwood last Saturday evening. The game would be the dénouement for the Bridger Valley Invite for the girls teams.

Both teams are slated to compete in the Flaming Gorge Classic in Green River this week. The Lady Eagles played Rock Springs yesterday, and the Lady Buffs went up against Riverton. Results weren’t available at press time.

Mountain View’s first game at the BV Tournament was against 2A Wind River with the Lady Buffs notching the win fairly easily, 57-32. Next on the docket was against the 1A Cokeville Lady Panthers. Another easy win, 56-29. The last game on the Lady Buffs schedule was against the Lady Eagles of Lyman, which proved to be the third win of the weekend for the Lady Buffs.

The luck of the Lady Eagles wasn’t as perfect during this tournament. They easily beat the 2A Lady Rangers of Kemmerer in their first game, 65-26. Moving on, they took out Butte County, Idaho, and the Lady Eagles moved on to the championship game against the Lady Buffs. The Lady Eagles suffered a nine-point loss.

“The tournament was tough on us,” Hansen said. “We did about what I expected with the injuries we had. I’m worried that we might have lost two key players (McKailey Bradshaw and Elena Jensen) to our program
