MOUNTAIN VIEW — Friday, May 25, proved to be a major turning point in the lives of the MVHS seniors as they donned their cap and gown, accepted their diplomas and moved the tassels on their caps.

This step culminated 13 years of achievements, both academically and personally as the seniors graduated from Mountain View, which formed the first step for them in the new direction their lives will turn.

The auditorium was a buzz as the crowd waited for the first strains of Pomp and Circumstances. As the band started to play, a hush fell over the crowd and they rose to their feet to honor the class destined to say good-bye last Friday to their life as high school students.

Ben Carr, high school principal praised the class of 2018 for their dedication in the classroom, athletics and extra curricular activities and for being all-around good students and young people.

Salutatorian Emilee Benedict spoke of the challenges all the students had faced throughout their school years. She said she felt she could speak for the class when she said, because of the support they had received, they were “the people we are today.”

Valedictorian Colton Roach said his advice to each of his classmates was each one was a unique individual and each one should develop his or her talents.

High school biology teacher Matt Eardley served as this year’s commencement speaker. Eardley said, “I think this class is incredible.
