MOUNTAIN VIEW — The MVHS varsity basketball teams kicked off their time on the hardwood at the Winter Classic tournaments last weekend.
The Buffalos went to the Pinedale Winter Classic, where they won one and lost two. The Lady Buffs played in Rawlins where they aced all three of their games.
Both varsity teams play in Evanston tonight against the 4A Red Devil teams. The teams will also host 4A Star Valley varsity teams tomorrow morning in the Buffalo Dome. As of Wednesday, both MVHS varsity teams have better overall rankings than the Red Devil varsity teams.
For the 3A conference in the guys teams, WyoPreps released their latest poll on Wednesday – “The new No. 1 is in Class 3A where undefeated Worland takes over the top spot. The Warriors went 3-0 at last weekend’s Winter Classic in Pinedale. That included a victory over No. 4 Mountain View by 10 points.
As for the action on the hardwood at Pinedale last Friday, the MVHS Buffs handed the Buffalo Bison a loss, 53-42.
The Buffalos were back in action in two games last Saturday. Both ended in the loss column for the Buffs.
As for the MVHS Lady Buffs, Lady Luck was on their shoulder and the Lady Buffs took all three of their games at the Rawlins Winter Classic last week. On Friday, the #4 Lady Buffs put the #3 Lady Bison of Buffalo in the basket with a 20-point loss, 53-33.
Back on the hardwood on Saturday, the Lady Buffs had a close game with Worland, but the Lady Buffs still cinched the win, 40-39. Back on the floor against Rawlins, the Lady Buffs had another strong win as they handed the Lady Outlaws a 26-point loss, 62-36.
