North takes 2018 Shrine Bowl win

CASPER — The 2018 Shrine Bowl game had an eerie déjà vu feeling to it at the beginning as the South Team nailed the first touchdown after the kickoff.

But, then the feeling vanished into mid-air as the South Team showed they were there to play ball, and they weren’t going to let the North roll over them and dominate as they did in the 2017 game when the North routed the South 49-7.

The Shrine Bowl played host to the top graduating senior football players in the state last Saturday in Casper. Tapped by the coaching staff, the players from across the state – North and South – assembled as teams with one goal in mind – take the win.

The game played on Natrona County’s Cheney Alumni Field was played to a grandstand full of fans. The game, played under hot skies, proved to be a good game for both teams.

Ultimately, the North beat the South for the ninth straight year with a final score of 13 to 7. This was the lowest scoring game since 2009 when the game ended in the second quarter to finish in a 3-all tie. The North now leads the series 23-18 with three ties.
