EVANSTON — Wyoming Downs will feature live horse racing through July and part of August.
The Downs started its 2018 season on June 30, and will host races through Aug. 19.
The racetrack is 15 miles north of Evanston. The races include many horses from Utah. In addition, horses from California and other western states have hit the turf at the Downs.
Wyoming Downs' stakes schedule features 12 races for American Quarter Horses, topped by the 350-yard, $25,000-est. Wyoming Downs Futurity on closing day, Aug. 19. The 350-yard, $35,000-est. Utah-Bred Futurity (R) for Utah-bred 2-year-olds is scheduled for July 21.
The gates open at 11:30 a.m. with a post time of 1:05 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.
Wyoming Downs Racetrack is the largest and only privately owned racetrack in Wyoming.
Next weekend’s events June 29-July 1, are designated Wyoming Youth Racing Experience for ages 15-18. Lodging and meals are provided for the participants, but transportation isn’t provided.
