FORT BRIDGER — A long time commitment to caring for the health of Valley citizens earned the Bridger Valley Medical Group/Lyman Branch the award for the Business of the Year.
The award was presented to Dr. Gary Noe by Cindy Haggit, BV Chamber president, at the annual awards luncheon last Friday at the American Legion Hall in Fort Bridger. Dr. Noe and his wife, Cherrie, had manned the business for many years. Cherrie served as the nurse in the business. Dr. Noe announced his retirement as the attending physician at the Medical Group in January. At that time the Noes planned on staying in the Valley for a while, but hadn’t decided what their future plans would include
The award was one of several handed out in recognition of the contributions Valley residents make to improve the quality of life in Bridger Valley. Both towns and school districts presented awards at the luncheon.
In her opening comments Haggit traced some of the history of the Valley from that of Judge Carter who came into the Valley as the post sutler when Fort Bridger was a military establishment. Carter stayed in the area and became a businessman dealing in oil and livestock and sheep.
According to Haggit, as the Valley grows, it provides more of an incentive for those who graduate from the two school districts to stay in the area.
