Sanderson won Ford truck from Diesel Brothers

Lucky one in over a million entries…

LYMAN — Cecil Sanderson, Lyman won a F250 Platinum Edition Ford Truck from Diesel Brothers of Woods Cross, Utah.

The truck was a new 2017 black truck Diesel Brothers added loads of bells and whistles bringing the value of the truck mega-dollars. The truck was modified with a lift kit, which probably raised the truck about six inches, Sanderson said. Diesel Brothers also changed out the tires for their brand of tires, huge tires, valued at $1,000 each. And true to the contest, the truck was won in a game of blackjack so it sports Black Jack emblazoned on its rear fenders with a couple of cards.

Sanderson said he has been entering contests for many years, with his first contest sometime as a youth in the late 50s or early 60s while living in California. The local TV station in Bakersfield held a contest for an African arrow. Sanderson said he had entered contests consistently since living in Bridger Valley since 1981. He said he focuses on contests, which basically have no cost to enter.

When entering the contest for the Platinum Ford, Sanderson said he entered the contest on line. When he got the phone call about the win, Sanderson said he was more than a little awed, and was “ a little leery” and concerned if this was “for real.”

After watching YouTube on the Diesel Brothers black jack game and filling out the paperwork, Sanderson said he was basically walking with his head in the clouds as he couldn’t quite believe his luck.

The contest, with over a million entries, was narrowed down to 10 contestants. In the YouTube, a crew member of Diesel Brothers played for each of the contestants. As the game played down, the game was between Sanderson and another entrant. The man playing for Sanderson tossed in the rest of his chips and won the game as the other player had started loosing. When Sanderson was declared the winner, the player held up a card and said, “Cecil Sanderson, you just won a truck.”

As for bells and whistles, the truck has many and Sanderson said recently, he is still learning about all the gadgets. The truck has sunroofs, a shade, lights that dim automatically for an oncoming vehicle and then brighten after passing, leather seats that can massage, a heated steering wheel, back-up cameras and so much more. Sort of like a life of luxury as you travel down the highway.

And, as for the giant-step needed to get into or out of the truck. The truck takes care of that, too. Open the door and a running board comes out, descends for entry and then goes back up when the door is closed.
