STAR VALLEY — High school cross country runners got a sneak preview of the course for the state meet when they competed in Star Valley last week on Saturday as Star Valley will host state.
The teams headed into the third week of competition at Star Valley, which proved to be the biggest competition spot for the weekend. The course was on the Valli-vue golf course, site of the state event in October.
Both Lyman and Mountain View competed at the Star Valley event and individual runners did very well.
In Star Valley, Rawlins junior standout Sydney Thorvaldson dominated the competition and won by over two minutes in the girls' division. Thorvaldson has been building her name both in Wyoming and in the nation.
Lyman Lady Eagle Elena Jensen, tapped as a runner to watch prior to the season start, pulled in at the finish life in the #2 spot with a time of 20:33.69.
Two Lady Buffs from Mountain View turned in times in the top 25. They were Katie Giorgis, a first year cross country athlete, who claimed the 17th spot and Jaynee Hunt who cam in at #23. In addition, Natalee Rudy got first in JV girls.
In the boys division at Star Valley, SV Brave junior Peter Visser won by 14 seconds to take the boys' individual crown. The Braves also won the team crown by 34 points on their home course.
