UCCD poster contest winners

1st place – Grades 4-6: Cymber Hill, Urie Elementary

LYMAN — This year’s these for the annual Uinta County Conservation District poster contest was “Healthy Soils – Healthy Life.”

The contest is in conjunction with the National Association of Conservation District’s Stewardship Week. All Uinta County public and home school students, from kindergarten through 12tg grade can participate. This year there were 46 entries n the local contest.

“The poster contest is a great way for the youth of Uinta County to creatively express their ideas about natural resource and conservation, according to Katie Lott, UCCD.

The top posters in each category were as follows:

Grade K-1: Elena Eggleston (Mountain View Elementary), Karmma Pauly (Clark Elementary), Carter Kent (North Elementary)

Grade 2-3: Oliver Dillree (Aspen Elementary), Ellie Asay (Uinta Meadows Elementary), Kyler Larsen (Uinta Meadows Elementary)

Grade 4-6: Cymber Hill (Urie Elementary), Lily Hofer (Uinta Meadows Elementary),

Paul Davis (Mountain View Elementary)

Grade 7-9: David Wynne (Evanston Middle School), Kylee Kent (Evanston Middle School), Kaylee Hatch (Lyman, Home school)

Grade 10-12: Anna Jo Short (Mountain View High School), Kayleigh Guymon (Horizon High School), Benji Powell (Horizon High School)

 Participants who placed in their category won cash prizes – 1st place $100, 2nd place $50, 3rd place $25. Local first place posters will advance to the state contest in October.
