EVANSTON — The Uinta County Commission worked to get a step -up on the summer season at their meeting May 1,

The on-going process of turning the Bridger Valley Landfill into a transfer station was again a topic of interest. The commission unanimously approved a grant agreement with the State Loan and Investment Board for $963,900 and a loan agreement for $107,100 for the Bridger Valley Transfer Station.

The commission approved two issues governing some of the summer activity. In preparation for the mosquito season, the commission signed the Emergency Insect Management Grant pre-award acceptance letter with the Department of Agriculture. The grant for mosquito abatement was for $78,002. This, again, was unanimous.

The commission, in unanimous action, amended the personnel policy on nepotism and seasonal employees. The policy stipulates an employee or an elected official can not be the supervisor of an immediate family member, regardless of employment status.

In preparation for the Aug. 12 primary election, the council approved a resolution designating the election districts within the county. All districts will remain the same as no changes were made.

As for the commission meeting Tuesday, May 15, the commission again addressed the Valley Landfill and set up the order of consent, which is a schedule to ensure compliance with the MSW Cease and Desist Transfer program to comply with the legality of changing the landfill into a transfer station.

The commission also set up the salaries for the next for years for elected officials. They range from $70,0050 starting January 2019 to $72,450 starting the fourth calendar year on January 2022. The raises reflect a raise in January 202 which is maintained through the next two years.

In addition, the salary schedule sets the salaries for the county attorney at $100,000 which is maintained through the four years, county commissioners at $29,460 each for the four years, and then sets the county corner at $11,008 in January, being bumped up to $13,408 in 2020 and maintained through 2022.

In addition to setting these salaries, the commission approved a resolution designating both the Uinta County attorney and the prosecuting attorney as full time positions.
