EVANSTON — The Uinta County Commission met in regular session Tuesday, Jan. 5, kicking off the business of the New Year.
The commission named Eric South as the chair, In addition newly elected commissioner Brent Hatch assumed his seat on the commission. Hatch was sworn in on Monday. He will replace Craig Welling, who didn’t run for reelection.
The commission handled the business of gearing up to handle the business of 2021. This included naming representatives to the county’s boards such as the Grievance board, weed and pest, etc.; a lease agreement for an airport hangar and a tax roll change.
In addition, in keeping with the times created by the pandemic, the commission approved a MOU between Uinta County and the Wyoming Department of Health which will provide the county with $247,308. According to Kim Proffit, this money will primarily be used for personnel for funding to pay for the additional cost incorporated by the county due to testing and tracing of the virus. Proffit also said her department had hired additional personnel to keep up with the this requirement.
