LYMAN — On Wednesday, it was reported one in every 500 Americans have died of COVID-19.
The U.S. has reached another grim COVID-19 milestone: 1 in 500 Americans have died from the virus.
As for Wyoming, the number of Wyoming deaths tied to coronavirus climbed over 900 on Tuesday as the Wyoming Department of Health (WDH) announced 39 more deaths. This includes five Uinta County residents, three men and two women, also all hospitalized, died in August and September.
According to Kim Proffit, Uinta County Health, last week on Sept. 9, “There are high levels of transmission, and the higher levels of serious illness, hospitalization and deaths continue. We have had six deaths in the last two weeks, some young people. It’s very sobering.”
Healthcare agencies remain under great stress and burden, Proffit said. “Testing supplies are again becoming hard to find.
“Vaccination is still our best tool at preventing serious illness in individuals, and in getting a handle on this outbreak/surge, and preventing future outbreaks.
“The good news is that we have seen marked increases in our vaccination rates. For our senior population over 65, the vaccinated rate is right at 70%. Nearly half of all adults in Uinta County are vaccinated. That’s great! Your friends and neighbors are getting vaccinated.
The number of Wyoming deaths tied to coronavirus climbed over 900 on Tuesday according to the Wyoming Department of Health. The latest map provided by the WDH the end of last week showed Uinta County with 275 active cases, down from over 300. No new map had been issued as of the Pioneer’s press time.
