Valley cross country racers posted well at regional meet

LANDER — The Valley harriers competed in Lander at the regional meet last Friday and qualifiers will face off in Sheridan at the state meet today and tomorrow.

Predictions are the weather will be sunny with moderate temperatures for the state meet. The race course sill be on the Sheridan V.A. Hospital Grounds.

The Eagles have 16 athletes and the Buffs have 14 athletes on the docket to compete at the state meet this weekend.

The 3A West teams at the Lander meet last weekend included host school Lander, Riverton, Cody, Powell, Jackson, Star Valley, Lyman and Mountain View.

The boys teams of Star Valley and Jackson both collared a score of 53 for first and second respectively. First place was taken by Peter Visser, Star Valley with a time of 16:44.

Mountain View racked up 121 points for fifth place and Lyman 163 points for seventh. Cody fell to the bottom or eighth place with 171 points. The guys raced in a field of 115 competitors.

Travis Harmon turned in the best time for the MVHS Buffs, taking 3rd place with a time of 17:07. He was followed by Dawson Jorgensen, 18:48; Tanner Erickson, 18:58; Michael Newton, 19:58; Swade Bindl, 19:59; Michael Stoll, 21:48 and Alex Thomas, 23:09.

The fastest time turned in by the LHS Eagles was by Jesse Fanos, taking 15th place with 18:16. He was followed by Spencer Palmer, 19:39; Braxton Bradshaw, 19:51; Jacob Palmer 19:58; Michael Kunzler, 20:31; Ryan Neilson, 21:01 and Carson Walker, 21:06.

Jackson took first place in the girls varsity division with a score of 33 with Cody nabbing second place with a score of 61. The Ladies raced in a field of 82 conpetitors.

The Lyman Lady Eagles turned in a score of 165 for sixth place and the MVHS Lady Buffs, 179 for eighth place.

Riley Smith of Cody took first place with a time of 19:44, and Parker Smith of Jackson, 2nd, 20:26.

The fastest time turned in for the Lady Eagles was by Elena Jensen for 9th place with a time of 21:32. She was followed by Jamie Staheli, 23:39; Emma Beck, 24:12; Lindsay McGuire, 26:37; Rayne Lueck, 27:45; Kloe Rogers, 28:03; and Challis Nebeker, 31:48.

For the Lady Buffs, Charity Harmon turned in the fastest time for 17th place, 22:30. She was followed by Kenzy Kellum, 24:40; Adaria Meeks, 25:08; Riley Antonino, 25:37; Brittany Mair, 27:40; and Taite Lamoreaux, 28:24.
