CASPER — The Shrine Bowl not only proves to be a great experience for those selected to play, but the entire week is a “super, super, positive experience,” according to Cody Peacock Tuesday afternoon.
Peacock, a coach at Lyman, was tapped to serve as an assistant coach for the South Team for this year’s Shrine Bowl. And, he was able to see how the Valley’s four players interacted with each other, the rest of the team and how they interacted at the Shriner’s Hospital in Salt Lake City.
The Valley sent four players to the Shrine Bowl, three from Mountain View – Jason Stoddard, Trevon Peterson and Johathan Anderson – and Lyman’s BeauDee Bluemel.
“Our boys played well, they all played well and they all played a lot,” Peacock said. “When you consider two-thirds or three-fourths of the players (at this year’s game) are going on to play college ball...” the Valley’s four players showed they had what it takes to make an impact on the turf.
These four young men are the cream of the crop, according to Peacock, and they made themselves and the Valley proud because of how they interacted throughout the week in the pre-game activities and at the game. In fact, Peacock said, the whole experience was a defining experience, from the time the boys visited the Shriner’s Hospital, interacted with the kids from small kids to those in their teens and how they interacted with the other Shrine Bowl players.
The whole experience for Peacock and the four Valley players was the Shrine Bowl and activities had been a “Super, super, positive experience.” Peacock said.
And, as for the bonding experience of the week’s activities, Peacock said, “As a coach, Mountain View is supposed to be a rival. I ended up just loving those kids.”
