Valley tracksters on the move,

Headed to the regional meet following great showing at BYU

BRIDGER VALLEY — Track teams from both Mountain View and Lyman are pumped up an ready to hit the track and field today at the 3A West regional meet in Pinedale.

The regional meet will run through tomorrow. For those who have already earned their marks, this proves to be a time in which they can ice the cake and turn in a stronger personal record. For those who haven’t, this is their last chance to see if they can make the mark to compete at the state meet next week in Casper.

The teams competing at the 3A West in Pinedale include Pinedale, Big Piney, Lander, Lyman, Mountain View, Powell, Worland and Lovell.

Both Mountain View and Lyman are coming off of strong results from the Mr. Mac/BYU Invitational. It was held last week at the Clarence Robison Track in Provo, Utah. The BYU Invitational is a UHSAA sanctioned high school competition, which

plays host to multiple schools and hundreds of competitors. Schools from Utah, Wyoming, Idaho and Nevada competed at the meet. Schools are divided into divisions 1A-3A and 4A-6A, depending on the size of the high school.

Size counts, but ability also counts and the MVHS Buffs have been top-notch this season as they have cruised to the top at the meets in which they have competed. And, once again, the MVHS Buffs cruised to the top with the force they displayed at Provo last weekend. And the Ladies, they held their own also turning in good performances.

“The boys team won the 1A-3A (division for the boys teams) at BYU,” MVHS head coach Joel Giorgis said Tuesday morning. “It was an outstanding performance. With the combined score for the boys and girls, they were second place (overall).”

He added the team is healthy and ready for regionals.

Lady Eagle McKinley Bradshaw was again a power, which couldn’t be stopped. She grabbed two first place finishes. Bradshaw took first in the shot with a throw for 39-08.75, almost three feet further than that thrown by Veda Gritts of Grand County High School for second. She also nailed first in the discus with a throw for 125-04.75, almost seven feet further than that turned in for second place. In this event Lady Buff Lyndee Hereford of Mountain View took eighth place with a 99-06.50. Teammate, Lady Buff Haylee Rudy, was directly on Hereford’s heels and took ninth place but didn’t earn a place on the podium.
