July 30, 1939 – Dec. 1, 2018

Posted

He was born on July 30, 1929, in Evanston to Esther and James Lester of Hilliard. He married Joyce J. Lester on Sept. 5, 1949, In Elko, Nev.

He loved working on his ranch and tending the animals, it was his way of life. There would never be a day that you would not see him out mending fences or getting ready for the next haying season. He had many other passions and he loved the birds, especially the wild game hens, many of times he would bring these home for my mother to prepare for dinner.

He had a love for the outdoors, going hunting and camping, etc. We had many cows and other animals, but the sheep were his passion, and he loved to have them around and take care of them.

He is survived by his loving wife, Joyce Lester, who has a passion for people and became a nurse.

He is also survived by his children – daughters: Robyn Vansyoc, Marie L. Barrus and Caitlen A. Edwards; sons: Perry R. Lester, Steve A. Lester and Mark C. Lester; 18 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 17 brothers and sisters: sons: V. Gene Lester and Samuel Lester; granddaughter, Kallie Martin Nelson; and Kohen George Moore.

Viewing will be at Crandall’s Funeral Home on Dec. 6, from 6 – 8 p.m. The funeral will be held at the 1st and 4th Ward Sage St. in Evanston starting at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 7, with graveside services following at the Evanston City Cemetery.
