Walker earned championship and All-State honors

GILLETTE — LHS Eagle Carson Walker earned All-State honors following the state swim meet last weekend in Gillette.

The honor names him as one of the best-of-the-best for high school male swimmers in the 3A conference.

Only first and second places are given All-State honors and Walker cinched his honor by taking first in the 100 yard butterfly. He edged out the second place swimmer from Lander by a time of .06. Walker also took third in the 500 yard freestyle.

The 3A title was won by Lander with 286 points. This was Lander’s 23rd consecutive state title. Second place went to Rawlins with 241 points. Lyman pulled down fifth place out of a field of 12 schools.

Individually, the LHS Eagles were back on track taking top spots in different events. Kyler Legault was third in the 200 IM, and Hansen Bradshaw took third in the 50 yard free. Legault also took sixth in the 100 yard breaststroke. Bradshaw also took sixth place in the 100 yard freestyle.

Another top place was captured by the Eagles with teamwork as the 200 yard freestyle relay team – Bradshaw, Carter Huntsman, Legault, Walker –took second, a mere .78 of a second behind the first place team from Rawlins.

Huntsman also took ninth place in the 100 yard backstroke.

Lyman’s second relay team, swimming the 400 yard freestyle –Bradshaw, Walker, Huntsman, Legault, took fourth place out of a field of 12 teams.
