William Von Chamberlain, 74, of Lyman, passed away peacefully on Feb. 21, in the George E. Wahlen VA Home, Ogden, Utah.

Von was born Feb. 7, 1947, in Hilliard, Wyoming, to Zetta Alice Danielson Chamberlain (Harold Chamberlain). He spent many hours on his grandparents’ ranch working the land and, in his spare time, fishing the Bear River and enjoying the great outdoors.

Von attended Evanston High School and, after graduation, enlisted in the United States Air Force. He served in Korea and was always proud to have served his country. Upon returning home, he married Alice Lester, and together they had three children: daughters, Vonda and Patsy; and son, Cassidy.

Von supported his family through hard work and dedication. He retired from FMC mining after over 40 years of service, and despite his health struggles, took care of his family until the very end. He lived in Bridger Valley for  more than 50 years and, during that time, enjoyed his horses, camping, fishing, hunting and spending time with his loved ones.

Von was a man with a big heart and would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. He was strong, brave, kindhearted and a true hero. He will be sorely missed.

Von is preceded in death by his parents, Zetta Chamberlain and Harold Chamberlain; a brother, John Chamberlain; nephew, Chris Gebhardt; and niece, Jeanne Balser Krupp.

He is survived by his loving wife, Alice Chamberlain; three children, Vonda Phillips (Stephen),

Patsy Jud (Brad) and Cassidy Chamberlain (Chrissy); brother, Lynn Chamberlain (Kathy); sister, Alice Gebhardt (Bill); grandsons, Kyle Jud, Evan Jud, Skyler Phillips and Saylem Phillips (Tiara); and many nieces and nephews.

Cremation services were conducted by Aarons Mortuary in Ogden, Utah, and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.

The family wishes to the thank the George E. Wahlen VA Home for his care and for the true heroes they are.
