CODY — Hanna Behunin, MVHS graduating senior, has been named one of the best-of-the-best as she has been named one of the five finalists for the Milward Simpson Award.
This prestigious award is presented annually to the outstanding male and female high school senior in Wyoming. This year’s award will be presented in Cody on June 17.
Behunin participated in cross county, indoor track and field, outdoor track and field during her high school career. She goes up against Anna Gibson, Jackson; Kalina Smith, Gillette; Cosette Stellern, Cheyenne East; and Jules Ward, Thermopolis.
This season, Behunin took home top honors in the 800, 1600 and 3200. She also competed in basketball for two years and indoor track for two years.
Behun is in the daughter of Rhonda K. Behunin and will be attending Northern Arizona University on an athletic/academic scholarship.
The Milward Simpson Award is considered to be the highest honor an athlete can receive, because they excelled in multiple sports in all four years of their high school career.
