Bridger Valley rocked at Saratoga cross country meet

SARATOGA — They came, they toppled and they left the others in the dust was the result of the Bridger Valley high school cross country teams at the Saratoga track meet last Friday.

The cross country season is rolling along and hits its midpoint last week. Both Lyman and Mountain View competed at the Shana Ward Memorial Invitational (at Saratoga Inn Golf Course) last Friday. Both schools will be on the course at Fort Bridger on Oct.10. The conference meet will be Oct 19 at Lander and state at Star Valley on Oct. 26.

The MVHS boys took first place at the meet in a division featuring five schools at the meet in Saratoga last week. Schools racing in this division included Mountain View, Lyman, Rawlins, Laramie and Pine Bluffs/Burns. They are listed as the placed as teams.

Walk tall Valley residents as Mountain View and Lyman took the top two places at the meet.

The Buffalos lead runner, Travis Harmon, again proved he had the mettle to impress and impress he did. He won the boys' 5K race and helped the Buffaloes win the team crown by 24 points.

Lyman’s Jesse Fanos also impressed as he took third in this division. In addition, he broke the Lyman High School record.

As for the girls division, Valley runners also power up and make good times on the course. As expected, Rawlins star runner Sydney Thorvaldson dominated the 5K girls' race and helped the Outlaws win the team title with a time of 17:07.52, as well, by one point over Lyman.

LHS’ Elena Jensen, initially noted as a runner to make an impression prior to the season’s start, took second place in this division behind Thorvaldson with a time of 19:40.39.
